南風見田の浜とは

西表島南東にあるビーチで、リーフに囲まれた遠浅の海に面しています。

戦争時の波照間島民の強制疎開先であり、マラリアによって多くの尊い命が失われました。

この悲しい出来事を忘れないようにと『忘勿石の碑』が建てられています。

南風見田の浜での遊び方

遠浅のビーチなので、小さいお子様でも海水浴が楽しめます。

ただし、周囲にトイレ等何もないので手付かずの自然のビーチというイメージです。

また、観光地の多い上原港から車で1時間程と遠いので、ドライブ観光で行くのもおすすめ。
