夫婦岩とは

鳩間島の北西部にある立原浜の近くにあります。

近くには小さな看板があります。

夫婦岩と言うと、伊勢の夫婦岩のように同じような形をしている少しサイズ違いの岩が寄り添うように並んでいる姿を指すというイメージですが、鳩間島の夫婦岩はどのあたりが夫婦なのかわかりません。

まわりのガジュマルの木が立派になり過ぎてどちらが主役なのかわからないのが正直なところです。

ちなみに夫婦岩の名前の由来は、近所に住んでいた仲の良い夫婦に因んで付けられたといわれています。
