宇多良炭鉱跡とは

南西諸島の西表島を流れるUrauchi Riverの支流、宇多良川付近において1935年（昭和10年）から1943年頃まで稼働していた炭鉱の跡地です。

浦内川観光の道をそのまま上流に進むことで行くことが出来ます。

県道の浦内橋付近から炭鉱までも長さ約1キロメートルの遊歩道が整備されています。

宇多良炭鉱跡は複数ある西表炭坑のうちのひとつであり、近代化産業遺産の一つにも認定されています。
