When you think of Iriomote Island, you may have an image of cruising along the mangrove river in a canoe (kayak).Recently, it has become a famous photojournalistic spot.The most famous waterfall in Iriomote Island is Pinaisara Falls with a drop of 55 meters. Yubu Island sightseeing is a classic spot for a relaxing afternoon stroll. This time, we will thoroughly explore the best set plan to enjoy a day trip from Ishigaki Island.
For day-trippers, the guide will be waiting for you at Uehara Port if you take the bus from Ishigakijima Remote Island Terminal at 8:30 a.m. to Uehara Port.Sunglasses and sunscreen are recommended as Iriomote Island is very sunny. Reef boots, waterproof bags, and other tools necessary for canoeing can be rented free of charge.
First, a lecture on how to paddle a canoe. Even if you are new to canoeing, you will feel at ease.
The canoeing starts from the spot where you can overlook the ocean! You will paddle a canoe from the shallow ocean to the river, which is almost impossible to find anywhere else in Iriomote Island. It is good that you can enjoy the sea and the river at the same time in one canoe tour.
Once you cross the bridge at the starting point, you can start canoeing toward the waterfall.
The canoe ride to the waterfall is an athletic course through a real jungle due to the narrow width of the river, a very realistic version of USJ's Jurassic Park.

After a lot of food and rest, you can go for "Yubu Island Buffalo Car Sightseeing," the most popular sightseeing spot, a paradise of subtropical plants.Iriomote Island is so well known for its buffalo that you can cross the sea on a buffalo cart. The water level is about 1 meter, and the buffalo cart moves slowly through the sea. Since you are in Okinawa, you can feel the flow of time as you sway on the buffalo cart.
Yubu Island is actually a small island of only 2 kilometers, made entirely of sand deposited by ocean currents. With a population of only about 10 people, the entire island has been transformed into a subtropical botanical garden, which is very rare.
Yubu Island is so small that you can walk around it in about 30 minutes. You can take a short break at a restaurant using the drink ticket you receive with your buffalo cart ticket. You can also look around limited goods sold only in Yubu Island! There are many rare souvenirs such as fruit juice of Iriomote Island, goods of buffalo and Iriomote wild cat.
Other famous spots include the spot where you can see other islands such as Ishigaki Island, Kuroshima, Aragusuku Island, and Kohama Island from Manta's Beach.There is also a plaza with sunlight filtering through the trees that looks like it might appear in a TV drama, and families can enjoy themselves as they can relax on the playground equipment for children.Yubu Island, where you can relax and enjoy many photo spots, is just right after an active morning tour.
