Facility Overview
Located in the village of Hiraitate on Iriomote Island, this hands-on lodging facility is operated by the Iriomote Island Hiraitate Community Center. The village of Hiraitate has a history of more than 400 years, and still retains its old festivals, culture, and customs. The village still retains the traditional Okinawan village landscape with its Fukugi windbreak forests and coral stone walls. The buildings are cottage-type, wooden and red-tile-roofed in the image of Okinawan private homes. With the coral sea in front of you and mountains surrounded by jungle behind you, you can feel like a local villager in such a dry village. By the way, the name "Iruntifutademura" means "Iriomote Island Dry Village".
