What is the Forgotten Stone Monument?
Minamikaze Mita BeachIf you walk eastward on the "Bokkoishi no Monument" and "Bokkoishi (Forgetting Stone)", you will see the "Bokkoishi (Forgetting Stone)".
At the end of the Pacific War, the residents of Hateruma Island were forcibly evacuated, and many died of malaria.
A monument was erected in 1992 to remember the tragedy, and a memorial service is held every year.
How to play around the Forgotten Stone Monument
Visitors can go there by rental car, and snorkeling and swimming at the beach of Minamikaze Mita are popular.
