『ピナイサーラ』は沖縄の言葉で『ピナイ』が『髭』、『サーラ』が『下がったもの』という意味で、滝から流れる水が老人のあご髭の様だったことから名付けられたと言われています。

ピナイサーラの滝に向かうのには歩いて行く道がないので、一般的には近くのマングローブ川まで車で行き、マングローブ川をカヌーで進んでからトレッキングでジャングルを上り、ピナイサーラの滝つぼまで向かうのがスタンダードな行程です！

また、ピナイサーラの滝上までトレッキングで進めば、あたり一面の絶景が見られます！

バラス島、鳩間島などの島々を始め、島を覆う熱帯雨林、綺麗な海が一望できます。
