The first high speed boat from Ishigaki Island departs at 6:50 a.m., but we will take the next boat at 8:30 a.m. to Iriomote Island to have enough time to spare.
9:10 Arrive at Uehara Port
We will arrive about 40 minutes after departing Ishigaki Island. Upon arrival at Uehara Port, we will head to Tudumari Beach with the rental car we pre-booked.
9:20 Swimming at Tudumari beach
Tudumari beach is about a 5-minute drive from Uehara Port and is on the way to Urauchi River, which we will visit later.
Compared to other beaches, the fineness of the sand on this beach is overwhelmingly fine and powdery. It is also called Tsuki ga hama (moon beach) because of the crescent shape of the beach.
Near this beach is Nirakanai, one of the best resort hotels in Iriomote Island, which is especially crowded with tourists during the summer season.

Start cruising on the Urauchi River sightseeing boat! The Urauchi River is the largest river in Okinawa Prefecture and is lined with mangroves on both banks. The difference in tides causes the sea water to rise up to nearly 10 km upstream.
As a result, the water is home to a wide variety of creatures, and it is said that more than 400 species of fish inhabit these waters. Wild birds, wild boars, and other animals also gather here to feed on the fish. At low tide, visitors can clearly observe mangrove species and even turtles, which are not seen at high tide. The main restaurant can be used as a café for lunch and a dining bar for dinner. The specialty, miso cutlet made with Ishigaki pork is a rich and flavorful dish! The special miso, which is made by adding brown sugar from the island to Hatcho miso, is a perfect match with the Ishigaki pork and is very addictive!
