Iriomote Island Starry Sky & Jungle Night Tour It was raining when we were picked up and they told us that it would be OK even if we canceled the tour, but since we had come all the way to Iriomote Island, we decided to join the tour despite the rain. They even lent us children's boots so we could enjoy the tour without worrying about our feet! Despite the rain, we were very happy to see coconut crabs, kakureiwa crabs, and even habu in the jungle, thanks to Tacky's professional eyes! On the way back, we took the path that gave us the best chance of seeing Iriomote wildcat, and although we didn't see Iriomote wildcat, we did see a kestrel twice. ‼️ We couldn't see the stars because of the rain, so next time we have the chance, we would love to return and enjoy the starry sky as well!

We went on a stargazing and jungle night tour. As you can see, we were able to see a huge and beautiful blue coconut crab!　We were also able to see a lot of other creatures that can only be seen in Iriomote Island, such as rare hermit crabs and owls. Many of the rare creatures are nocturnal, so I recommend this tour. The tour guide, Teru-chan, was also very kind and guided us to a secret starry sky spot where we usually don't go for sightseeing!

I joined this tour with my husband and wife. We stayed at Hoshino Iriomote Island, and they picked us up and dropped us off in front of the hotel both on the way there and on the way back, which was very helpful. In the night tour, we were thrilled to go into the bushes where we wondered if we were going to go through such a place. The guide, Mr. Akiyama, gave us easy-to-understand explanations in such a detailed way that we could understand that he must be fond of Iriomote's creatures, and we enjoyed seeing many coconut crabs. Above all, our guide, Mr. Akiyama looked like he was having a good time. LOL! My husband and I were both afraid of insects, but we were so absorbed in the exploration that we didn't care anymore. They laid out a starry sky mat and I will never forget the view I saw while lying on it. I think I was able to see the view because of the activities to protect the starry sky conducted by the whole Iriomote Island, so I will continue to support them! I participated in a night tour which I heard was popular in Iriomote Island. This time, I was taken to two places and could see a lot of animals and plants in the jungle. The jungle is not easy to walk on, so long pants and long sleeves are recommended. Boots and lights were available for free. The weather was beautiful that day, and we were able to see the stars and the sky was full of them! The Milky Way can really be seen☆☆Iriomote has almost no electric lights, so the stars seem much bigger than those seen in the city! If you stay in Iriomote Island, the night tour is a must-see!

I joined the night tour at the recommendation of the hotel staff. We walked through the pitch-dark jungle with a guide showing us the way with a flashlight in hand. We were able to see endangered palm crabs, owls, and other rare creatures. I joined this tour because I wanted to show my sons (3 and 5 years old), who love living things, the jungle at night, which is different from the daytime. Due to the new coronavirus, there seemed to be few tourists visiting the island, so we were able to enjoy the tour with only two people, a mother and her daughter. When we made the reservation, we told them that we would like to mainly observe the creatures, if possible, and the guide, who was the most knowledgeable about the creatures in the store, guided us around! I was really happy with this kind of service. During the tour, we told him that we wanted to see coconut crabs, and he said, "If it is the time of year when the adan, their favorite food, is ripe, we can almost certainly find them, but at this time of year, it is just luck..." But he did his best to search for them, and we were able to see a big blue, vivid coconut crab without incident. We were able to see a big, bright blue coconut crab. I am really grateful to the guide. The weather was not so good, so he said, "We may not be able to see many creatures..." and we were able to see some of the creatures that he keeps. He even brought along some of the creatures that he keeps himself. (* Actually, we saw quite a few species! In total during the trip, we were compensated for the precious and characteristic species except for the box turtle and the bobcat).
