    What kind of creatures are there in the rivers of Iriomote Island?

    Eviota japonica (species of pygmy goby found in Japanese waters)

    The southern flying goby is tropical and is a species of goby that inhabits tidal flats and mangroves in the brackish waters of rivers in warm climates such as Tanegashima, Yaku Island, and the Ryukyu Islands. It also has a wide distribution so that it can be seen on beaches near brackish water. It is very similar to the closely related flying goby, but can be distinguished by the spiny anterior portion of its first dorsal fin and the dark color band.

    The tenaga shrimp is a common species of fresh and brackish water in warm regions with a body length of around 10 cm. it is most common during the rainy season from April to August, and spawns from May to early fall. They are carnivorous shrimps that feed mainly on aquatic insects, small fish, and animal carcasses.

    Sawtooth crabs are a species of blue king crab that inhabit the mangroves of Okinawa and Lake Hamana in Shizuoka. Its leg structure is basically the same as that of the blue king crab, but its shell is fan-shaped with saw-like thorns instead of diamond-shaped like the blue king crab. The left and right scissors have different shapes and are used for different purposes: one to grind and crush food, and the other to tear it.

Males have scissors of different sizes, and when the tide comes in, the larger scissors swing in a way that looks like they are imitating the tide, hence the name "lionfish.

    The body of this species is white or yellow, and the scissors are much larger in relation to the body than in other Blue-footed boobies. It also has a long eye pattern and a black-and-white carapace.
